The Staircase Episode 1-2-3 Recap Cast: HBO Max has a new miniseries out called The Staircase. It is based on true story events involving Michael Peterson and his wife Kathleen Peterson. They are telling the story of Kathleen Peterson’s tragic death. Kathleen was found dead at the bottom of the staircase in their home. The actual life events took place in December 2001 in North Carolina and have gotten lots of media attention. Kathleen’s death was at first ruled an accident. The autopsy revealed that Kathleen was killed by multiple blows to the head and had wounds on her back, arms, and wrists. Several days later Michael Peterson was charged with her murder.

The Staircase Episode 1-2-3 Recap

The miniseries starts right off with tension at the scene of Kathleen’s death. The first in an eight-part drama series. There was a lot of blood at the bottom of the stairs.

Michael makes a 911 call and seems hysterical and is asking for an ambulance. While the cops are still on the scene they ask Michal if he has a grief counselor coming.

Then they inform him it is now a crime scene and he is not to leave the premises. Then it cuts to a previous time when the whole family is having dinner. Everyone seems happy as they are sending off one of their daughters to college. It goes back and forth leading up to Kathleen’s death, and Michael preparing for his trial. The timeline jumps back and forth a lot.

Evidence against Michael Peterson only gets bigger. The family begins to break down as Kathleen’s sisters turn against Michael. The kids either stick by their only parent’s side or join their Aunts and Uncle Bill not sticking by his side. It shows the prosecutor’s trying to put together a story with a little of their own persuasion in how they want the story portrayed.

Kathleen is seen trying to stick by her husband and remains loyal in some pretty rough situations and Michael plays many more roles as different as one could be. Very sociopathic.

This mini-series compared to the one shown on Netflix is to be a more emotional aspect of the story. They go through the show taking us through the trial and the ending will be tragic. If he is found to be innocent or guilty.
