The Next Doctor Who Star Ncuti Gatwa: The BBC has announced that Ncuti Gatwa will replace Jodie Whittaker as the Time Lord in Doctor Who.
Whittaker, who announced her departure from the role in July, will be replaced by the 29-year-old actor as the show’s 14th Doctor
Born in Rwanda, Scottish actor Gatwa rose to fame on Netflix as the hero of the series Sex Education.
In 2023, Gatwa will take the helm as Time Lord.
He is presently seen on Netflix in the comedy-drama Sex Education as Eric Effiong. His other television credits include Stonemouth, Bob Servant, and Masters of the Air, which is set to premiere in the coming months. He will also act in a romantic comedy based on Mattel’s Barbie dolls next year.
Ncuti Gatwa Said,
One more episode of Whittaker’s Doctor is likely to air in the fall of this year to coincide with the BBC’s 100th anniversary. For the first time, she was a regular cast member. There were some fans who thought that the figure should always be a male and even one Conservative MP in parliament who said that it had deprived boys of a role model and contributed to them turning into criminals as a result of the change.
Despite the numbering of the individuals playing Doctor Who becoming increasingly confused throughout the years, Gatwa will be recognized by fans as the 14th Doctor.
