The Masked Singer Season 9: The ninth season of The Masked Singer started Wednesday night, and one of the two reveals made judge Nicole Scherzinger cry. Nick Cannon took over as host, and panellists Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, and Robin Thicke also came back.

Every episode has a sudden elimination and a double unmasking, but this season there is a new twist: for the first time ever, the “Ding Dong Keep It On” Bell will give the judges the chance to save a singer who is about to be eliminated.

Tonight’s episode of The Masked Singer starts with Nick Cannon, Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, and Robin Thicke on the panel. This season, they have a whole new set and the most viewers in the show’s history. A big bell is another new thing this season. Tonight, three singers will sing, but only one will go on.
The first challenger is the Mustang, who says that from the outside, her life must look like a shiny carnival because she has sold out arenas, won awards, and even worked with Elvis. But she has been through a lot of pain and many times came close to dying. She made it through. Tonight, as a sexy Mustang, she is keeping all of her power in check. She is singing Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again.”
Jenny liked the way she talked and how sure she was of herself. The Men in Black have put together a bag of goodies for the singer. Inside is a magazine with Mustang on the front cover. Ken thinks Mustang is Pink. Robin is sure that it is Suzanne Somers. Nicole is getting a sense of Nancy Wilson.
The next singer is the Gnome, who says that he has done everything in his career and has become a constant in our lives. He’s made fun of everyone from Robin Williams to Ben Stiller. He has played with Madonna and other big names in music. All of the President’s men are in his address book. He’s happy with what he’s done. He is singing Billie Holiday’s “When You’re Smiling.”
Nicole says that after his show, everyone in the country was happy. Jenny thinks this is the biggest myth they’ve ever had on the Masked Singer. In the gift bag is a medal with a picture of JFK on it. Nicole is sure that it’s Dustin Hoffman. Robin thinks it might be Mel Brooks, but when he hears his voice, he thinks it might also be Dustin Hoffman. Ken wants to date Robert Di Nero.
Medusa grew up out of the way, dancing in the shadows. She never really fit in anywhere. She never really worried about fitting in because she knew she was made to stand out. She did her own thing and didn’t pay attention to anyone who asked her to confirm. She has kind of been here before, from the Super Bowl to this stage. She is here to compete this time. She is singing a song by Billie Eilish called “Happier Than Ever.”
Nicole is so shocked that she doesn’t know what to say. She says that in nine seasons, she has never been this dumbfounded. There is a DVD in the gift bag that says “340 million sold.” “Medusa, not the astral plane, but snakes.” Jenny says it sounds like Ellie Goulding. Ken first thinks it’s Bjork, but then he changes his mind and says it’s Megan Markle. Nicole says it could be Lourde.
We should talk about the bell now. By ringing the “Ding Dong Keep It On” bell, the panel can save a mask from being taken away. During the first three rounds, they can only ring the bell three times. On a special episode, the three singers who were saved will fight to get back into the competition. Voting is open.
The Gnome is the first singer to be found out. Ken thinks he is Robert De Niro, Jenny thinks he is Tony Bennett, Robin thinks he is Dustin Hoffman, and Nicole thinks the same thing.
All of the panellists were wrong, it is Dick Van Dyke.
The masks are singing “Diamonds” by Rihanna, and it’s time for the Battle Royale. Ken liked them both. The panel decides who stays in the game and who is revealed. Medusa is moving on, and Mustang’s true face will be shown. The last guesses are that she is Pink by Ken, Joan Jett by Jenny, Suzanne Somers by Robin, and Wynona Judd by Nicole, who thinks she heard something country.
All of the panellists were wrong again, Sara Evans is the winner.
