Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1 Episode 17: When a proposed TV show’s title includes “Star Trek,” it’s natural to feel apprehensive. The Star Trek franchise has been around for over 50 years, and there have been nearly 800 officially licenced episodes. You can jump into any series and figure out how to get through it, but some of them are unwelcoming unless you have consumed the requisite mythology consciously or unconsciously. After the success of J.J. Abrams’ 2009 film version, the newest Star Trek cartoon series, Star Trek: Prodigy, premiered on October 28 on Paramount Plus and has become the most accessible entry point for the franchise.

Prodigy immediately teased more than that upon its release. To fill in the blanks, a group of juvenile delinquents take over the Starfleet ship Protostar and set out for the Alpha Quadrant to learn more about the Union, whose ideals they have adopted. Following a mysterious entity called The Diviner, who is hellbent on stealing The Protostar for nefarious purposes, they explore strange new planets in classic Star Trek fashion.

Star Trek: Prodigy season 1, episode 17, “Ghost in the Machine”, will be released on 8th December at 3 AM ET and 4:30 AM NT on Paramount+.

Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1 Episode 17 Preview

This week’s episode, “Ghost in the Machine,” features the young crew of the USS Protostar experiencing a Star Trek staple: the chaotic holodeck. In a remarkable scene from this week’s episode of Star Trek: Prodigy, Murf takes centre stage. Black and white ensue on the holodeck as Murf, who has only lately grown limbs, steps up to the microphone and belts out a tune. The clip is included above for your viewing pleasure.
