As expected, the first official trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the sequel to Into the Spider-Verse, has been shared today. Although details about the story are scarce, this trailer gives us a good idea of the kind of adventure that awaits us in the coming year.
The first trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse sees Miles travelling to a new dimension where multiple Spider-Mans, including Gwen and Peter B. Parker, interact with each other. All this while we can listen to a narration from our protagonist’s mother.
Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, will oppose Miles in one way or another, and for the moment, the reason is a mystery. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will hit theatres on June 2, 2023.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Trailer
In December 2021, we were able to take a first look at the film in a trailer focused mainly on the reunion between Miles and Gwen, but which also introduced us to Spider-Man 2099, who attacks Morales in another universe.
The most surprising thing about this first trailer is the confirmation that each new dimension of the film will be drawn with a different animation style in a homage to the comics full of references. And furthermore, everything indicates that on December 13, 2022, we will be able to have a second trailer that shows more aspects of the film.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Release Date Part 2
The first thing is to celebrate the good news. Not only will we have a sequel to ‘Spider-Man: A New Universe, but the same story will last for two movies. At the moment, the date chosen for the first instalment, ‘Spider-Man: Crossing the multiverse (part 1)’ is June 2, 2023. For its part, it is estimated that the second part of the story will hit theatres in 2024.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Preview
The first instalment ends with Miles Morales returning all the different ‘Spider-Man’ to their realities, but we find out there’s another, much easier way to connect with those alternate universes, as Miles and Gwen Stacy talk at the end of the movie.
Amy Pascal, ex-president of Sony, and now producer of films like ‘ Little Women ‘, ‘Barbie’ or all the ‘Spider-Man’ movies related to the superhero, has recently spoken about the plans for the sequel and has dropped that we will see a love story between Miles Morales and Gwen that was left out of the first instalment. Sony wants to give prominence to the women of the Spidey universe, so Gwen will be the basis of this new batch of movies because there will be many.
Who Is The New Villain?
Director Kemp Powers told Games Radar that The Spot will be “the enemy of the next two films” before the trailer even dropped for Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse. This role is being played by Jason Schwartzman.
In the comics, The Spot is actually Dr Jonathan Ohnn, but most people don’t know that. He’s a researcher by training who worked for Kingpin at MIT before an accident revealed his superpowers.
Since Kingpin played a villainous role in Into the Spider-Verse, he may have had something to do with how The Spot came to be in Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse. However, would he ultimately prevail in Across the Spider-Verse, given that he is the antagonist in both forthcoming Spider-Verse films?
He could take out some of the Spider-people who run things in the Multiverse. This is how the June 2, 2023 release of Across the Spider-Verse might feature an Infinity War-style conclusion.
