Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 4 Preview

Season two’s fourth episode of Only Murders in the Building is a rousing success.

It’s a credit to the show’s writers that they manage to deftly introduce a crucial new character (it’s lovely to meet you, Lucy), elaborate on an aging Arconia mystery, and bring back a few much-missed characters from the first season.

From the outset, it appears as if the storyline is a bit bloated. There is a surprising amount of sentimentality in OMITB, owed primarily to Oliver’s description of Charles’ Lifetime TV movie monologue about parenting.

Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 4 Recap

Lucy is at the heart of it all (Zoe Colletti). When Charles’ ex-stepdaughter re-enters his life, the spotlight shines brightly on her.

I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that after solving Tim Kono’s murder, he went out to her.

While shooting the Brazzos revival, she appears out of nowhere from Connecticut in his trailer.

Actress Colletti has become a breakout star with her roles in Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark and Fear The Walking Dead.

Throughout the song, she perfectly captures Lucy’s anxiety and heightened emotions. Is it any wonder that Charles’ safety is a concern for the kid? Indeed, Lucy was there to see the demise of Bunny and almost saw who was responsible.

An unbelievable twist that OMITB spends the entire half-hour convincing us off.

Lucy actually grew up at the Arconia, as it turned out.

It’s a sign that she knows a few things about the building, including the existence of a goddamn secret passageway connecting all the residences (which Oliver has appropriately dubbed “Arcatacombs”).

While playing hide-and-seek with the neighbor’s child, Lucy used this location as a hideout.

This explains how the killer is able to evade Arconia’s guards without being noticed.

According to “The Last Day of Bunny Folger,” Bunny Folger’s murderer took the elevator to reach her floor, ring the bell and carry out the act.

When he exited the passageway, why didn’t he crawl back in?

However, let’s get back to Lucy now. The teenager still retains the key to Charles’ home despite the passage of time.

Her mother’s upcoming wedding was the night Bunny died, so she decided to skip the festivities instead of spending time with Charles.

Unfortunately, he declines the offer due to the upcoming party with Oliver and Mabel that he has arranged.

The fact that she’s already made it to Arconia is a disappointment. Outraged, she breaks into Charles’ residence nonetheless to vent her frustrations.

Video of her returning to a familiar place is recorded in a hallway behind his bathroom door.

It’s nice to see how generations of Arconia residents have a sentimental attachment to the place.

It has always been a character of its own, and this season’s expansion of that character has made it even more so.

While hiding from the killer in the Arcatacomb, Lucy hears Bunny pleading for help and sees the bloodied knife in Charles’ kitchen, which everyone had found earlier, and Oliver has lodged on the ceiling when Howard comes in to provide “hot gossip” about Nina, as everyone else has done.

Then, did Lucy’s camera capture any of the events that took place?

Not only does she not tell Charles about her previous misadventures, she tells him to get tough and solve the case before he gets caught or suffers a worse fate than she did.

Despite Lucy’s return to her mother’s house, I have no doubt she will return before the season ends, given her testimony’s importance.

Having her here also allows us to gain a better understanding of Charles.

In “Here’s Looking At You,” the tie between a parent and kid is emotionally significant. It seems as if Charles has eliminated Nina as a suspect for now, but he still tries to comfort her about the joy that comes with parenthood.

Luca and Mabel are both moved by the situation. In Mabel’s telling, Lucy, Charles reminds her of her deceased father. It gives Lucy the confidence to be more honest with him.

Willy, Oliver’s son, is directing his first school play, and Oliver is there to lend a hand.

Because of what he heard from Teddy and Theo Dimas in the Arcatacomb (sorry for the long term! ) and the speech, he’s fired up.

First and foremost, seeing Nathan Lane and James Caverly again was beautiful. Season one’s “The Boy From 6B” episode reverberates in my mind.

However, the father-son combination appears to be out of running.

In the wake of his father’s graverobbing plots landing the two of them on house arrest, a furious Theo has hired his own attorney and is refusing to cooperate with his father’s legal team.

Another group makes a triumphant comeback as well.

Charles has had a busy week, and he concludes it by going to prison to meet Jan, his ex-girlfriend and the assassin of Tim Kono, who has been contacting him nonstop.

It’s not clear what exactly he needs her help with. If she’s already in jail, how would she know anything about who killed Bunny? Or does he just want to get some ideas from a lunatic criminal?

Even while we already know Jan will never help without expecting something in return, that’s not the worst idea; admit it.

We also know Oliver will be livid because he was denied the opportunity to interview Jan for their podcast.

I’ll watch it if it means another episode with Amy Ryan’s excellent performance the following week.
