Kate McKinnon is an American actress, comedian, and writer, born with the name “Kate McKinnon Berthold”. She is best known for her role in “The Big Gay Sketch Show” in 2007-210 and “Saturday Night Live” in 2012 to present.

Early Life

McKinnon was born on 6 January 1984 in Sea Cliff, New York, U.S. She was born to Laura Campbell and Michael Thomas Berthold. Her mother Laura Campbell is a parent educator and her father Thomas is an architect. Kate’s parents have two daughters one is Kate and the other is Emily Lynne, Emily is a younger sister of Kate and a comedian. Both work together in two Audible series “Heads Will Roll” and the digital series “Notary Publix”.

McKinnon started playing several instruments when she was five years old. In five years she starts playing Piano, at the age of 12 she starts playing Cello, and at the age of 15, she starts playing Guitar.

When she was 18 years old she completed graduate from “North Shore High School” in 2002. And that year Kate’s father died.

In 2006 she has taken a theatre degree from “Columbia University”.

Mckinnon began his professional appearances in 2007 as part of the crew of The Big Gay Sketch Show On Logo TV. Two years into her career, she recorded numerous live sketch comedies and voiced some characters from series like Robotomy, Ugly America, and even some awards like a Logo NewNowNext Award for best-emerging comics. Similarly, she was nominated for the ECNY Emerging Comic Award. In 2016, her role in restarting Ghostbustersthe four impressively amazing women starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, and Leslie Jones have put her at the center of fame. People on the internet, especially women, loved the movie and praised it for starring women when they are not portrayed as objects or instruments used by others in a male-dominated love story.

The film grossed $ 46 million for the starring role at the box office following its release that year. Years before she appeared in the female-led film, Mckinnon had already made a name for herself on the famous Saturday Night Live Show, which she joined in 2012.

Kate Mckinnon was nominated for a 2013 Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress, Comedy. The following year she received the American Comedy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her great performance at SNL. That same year, she received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and received another Emmy nomination for the same category as the first one she received in 2015, breaking the SNL record for becoming the first SNL actress to win the award since 1993 won.
