Kim Eun-sook is widely regarded as one of the most successful screenwriters in Korea, having penned numerous critically acclaimed K-dramas. So, fans were very excited about her upcoming revenge-thriller series The Glory, which will be her second K-drama with Song Hye-kyo and her latest project.
Kim Eun-sook said she got the idea for The Glory from a conversation she had with her daughter, who is in her second year of high school. The famous author said that she had always worried that her daughter might get too much attention at school because of her mother, and she wanted to talk to her daughter about this.
But her daughter showed how grown up she was by telling her, “Mom, you’re not Kim Eun Sook like you used to be.” But the drama started when her daughter asked, “Mom, would you be more sad if I killed someone or if someone else killed me?”
Kim Eun-sook said she was surprised by what her daughter said but that it made her want to write the script for The Glory.

But it is based on an actual crime that happened in 2006, when a man named “K” burned a woman named “J” with a hair iron, scratched her chest with a hair pin, and stole all of her money. Shortly after the crime was discovered, the person who did it was taken into custody.
School bullying is a big problem in South Korea; each year, there are more and more cases. Kim Eun-sook said that the topic of school violence was essential to her and that she wanted to show a series that showed how horrible school violence really is.
Kim Eun-sook said that as part of her research for The Glory, she talked to a lot of school violence victims to understand their situation and the trauma they had been through.
