Gumrah is a 2023 Hindi-language crime thriller film directed by Vardhan Ketkar and produced by T-Series Films and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios. The movie, a remake of the 2019 Tamil film Thadam, stars Aditya Roy Kapur in a dual role, along with Mrunal Thakur and Ronit Roy. The story follows Inspector Shivani Mathur, who is assigned to investigate a man’s murder and comes across two look-alike suspects, unaware of each other’s existence.

Gumrah: A Star-Studded Cast

The film features an impressive ensemble, with Aditya Roy Kapur playing a ruthless criminal and his doppelgänger, Mrunal Thakur as Inspector Shivani Mathur, and Ronit Roy as ACP Dhiren Yadav. Other cast members include Vedika Pinto, Mohit Anand, Deepak Kalra, and Navneet Kaur Thind.

Production Journey of Gumrah

The Hindi remake of Thadam was officially announced in March 2020 by Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani. Initially, Sidharth Malhotra was cast as the lead, but after he left the project, Aditya Roy Kapur stepped in. Filming began in October 2021, with the second schedule starting in May 2022, and wrapped up in July 2022.

Soulful Music for Gumrah

The film’s music has been composed by Mithoon, Vishal Mishra, Tanishk Bagchi, and Abhijit Vaghani, with tracks like “Soniye Je,” “Ghar Nahi Jana,” “Allah De Bande,” and “Gumraah (Title Track).”

Release and Reception

Gumrah hit the theaters on April 7, 2023, and received positive reviews from critics, praising its engaging plot, storytelling, and twists.

Gumrah: OTT Release Date

Sony Max and an undisclosed OTT platform have acquired the satellite and digital rights for Gumrah. The official release date for the film’s OTT premiere is yet to be announced.
