On November 11, 2020, Netflix confirmed that Emily in Paris would have another season. In the video posted on various social platforms, the cast gathers by uttering the word “Deux” which is French for two.
At the time of the original release of this season 2 trailer, Emily in Paris has been available to stream on Netflix for just under two weeks. At the time, the Original series became Netflix’s most popular series in several regions before being dethroned by The Curse of Bly Manor.
Production for Season 2 was expected to begin in late April 2021, according to the report, which lists season two footage from April 26, 2021, through July 19, 2021.
However, in an interview with AP, Darren Star said that production would begin on May 3, 2021, and, like clockwork, production finally began on May 3. If the series has a schedule similar to the one we mentioned above, production is likely to end by the end of July.
Then, it will take several months for post-production and localization before coming to Netflix.
Over the course of filming, we were able to see many of the behind-the-scenes footage from the production, as they are usually filmed outdoors on the streets of Paris.
The Netflix Original comedy-drama series was created by Sex and city creator Darren Star. One of many, Darren Star is also the executive producer of the series, with the production of Original directed by his own company, Darren Star Productions, although it is also produced by First Productions in Paris and Jax Media.
Though often criticized (more on that in a second), the show is clearly a hit for Netflix and earned plenty of Emmy nominations in late 2021. The two nominations the series garnered included production design for a narrative show and an excellent comedy series.
Despite a controversial start on Netflix, with many French critics calling the series for its stereotypical portrayal of the French, Emily in Paris gained monumental coverage and fandom. Darren Cross, the show’s creator, ignored these criticisms and only said he was glad people were watching the show.
On November 11, the series was in the top 10 on U.S. Netflix. For a total of 29 days. In the UK, that number is even higher and continues to appear in the top 10 list for 40 consecutive days.
Despite the show’s popularity in the top 10, Netflix has never released official figures on how many people have watched the series.
Filming for the show’s first season took place in Paris in August 2019 (which is scheduled to happen again despite the pandemic), with additional scenes filmed in Chicago in November 2019. The series then launched in October 2020, scoring 14 months between the start of filming and the series premiere.
At first, we got to see the launch of Netflix. Emily is in Paris season 2 at the end of 2021, however, 2022 seems more likely right now.
