Mindy, played by Park, is the billionaire heiress of a Shanghai zipper company. In Emily in Paris, seasons 1 and 2, she gave up the family business to pursue a singing career. In the third season of the Netflix show, Mindy gets a residency at a famous (but made-up) Paris jazz club called Le Trompette Bleu, which has hosted legendary artists like Édith Piaf and Eartha Kitt.

At first, Mindy turns down the club’s offer because the residency would only let her perform solo and not with her busking bandmates, boyfriend Benoit (Kevin Dias) and Étienne (Jin Xuan Mao). But after getting the band’s approval, Mindy starts performing regularly at the venue. She sings covers of “Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa, “Smile” by Nat King Cole, and “Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, which fans on social media seem to either love or hate (more on that later).

The Emily in Paris season 3 finale marks the end of her performance residency, but it doesn’t mean the end of her music career. In the finale, Benoit tells Emily that their original song “Mon Soleil” has been accepted by the Eurovision Song Contest, so they’ll likely represent France in the contest in season 4.

Park is a well-known Broadway actress who has been in shows like “The King and I,” “Sunday in the Park with George,” “Mean Girls,” and “Grand Horizons.” She was nominated for a Tony Award for her role as Gretchen Weiners in Mean Girls in 2018, and she was also nominated for a Grammy Award for The King and I in 2016 for Best Musical Theater Album.
