One summer morning, Edward Adler, 12, gets on a plane with his parents and older brother from Newark to Los Angeles. But the plane crashes, killing his family and all the other 183 people on board. Edward is the only one who makes it out alive. The whole world is interested in his story, but Edward can’t go on without his family. He feels like he will always be tied to the plane and the other people on it. But then he finds something surprising and starts to find meaning in a world where he has lost everything. And new friendships, relationships, and communities are made when something bad happens.
