Daisy Jones & The Six Unknown Facts (2023)

Daisy Jones & The Six Unknown Facts (2023): A glossy and sentimental pop-music drama in the spirit of “Almost Famous,” Amazon Prime Video’s “Daisy Jones & the Six,” which draws in part on the tumultuous history of Fleetwood Mac, has been promoted as the first big-fun smash of the year. It’s big, but most of the fun seems to have been lost in the process. Someone turned down the romance and escape and turned up the “serious tear-jerker” knob. You were hoping to hear “Rhiannon,” but what you hear is more like “MacArthur Park.”

Daisy Jones & The Six Unknown Facts (2023)

  1. At first, actor Sam Claflin lied about how much musical experience he had. After an embarrassing audition with Elton John, Claflin was still in the running because of his acting skills. He used the pandemic lockdown to work with vocal coaches and guitar teachers over Zoom. From his early audition to the movie, his musical range had a “dramatic” change.
  2. The book that the show is based on was written after the author saw The Dance, a Fleetwood Mac concert. The band’s first show after Lindsey Buckingham, the lead male singer/guitarist and former boyfriend of lead singer Stevie Nicks, left the group in 1987 was in 1997. Nicks later admitted through her songs that she and Buckingham had gotten back together romantically during this time. The tension and looks between Nicks and Buckingham built up to a powerful performance of the song “Silver Springs,” in which Nicks and Buckingham stared each other down and sang directly and emotionally to each other. The author of Daisy Jones was struck by this relationship and what had kept a fire burning between them for forty years at the time. This gave her ideas for the characters of Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne. In the show, Daisy and Billy’s clothes are even based on what Nicks and Buckingham wore.
  3. Riley Keough sang a Fleetwood Mac song when she tried out for the part of Daisy Jones. Daisy is based on Stevie Nicks of the band Fleetwood Mac.
  4. In episode two, Daisy’s guitar strap is a copy of Elvis Presley’s from his 1968 concert special, whose actress is Riley Keough, Daisy’s granddaughter.
  5. Before filming started, the actors played a short concert as their made-up band to a crowd that didn’t know who they were. This helped them get into character and let them see how people responded in real time.
  6. For a live show, the actors learned how to play their instruments. Riley Keough, who plays the lead, had to take voice lessons so she could “belt” the songs.
  7. The girl next door’s closet Camila was influenced by Ali MacGraw’s bohemian style in the movie Love Story. When she gets married to a rock star, her clothes make her look more like Bianca Jagger.
  8. The book’s story is told as a transcript of an oral history like VH1’s “Behind the Music,” but the series is more like a documentary.
  9. Inspired by the real-life ups and downs of Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham, both of whom were in the famous rock band Fleetwood Mac.
  10. The main character, Daisy Jones, is played by Riley Keough. She is a singer who wants to be a rock star. Elvis Presley, who was known as the “King of Rock and Roll,” is Riley Keough’s grandfather.
  11. Riley Keough said that her late mother, Lisa Marie Presley, was the inspiration for her Daisy Jones role.
  12. The actors shot scenes and recorded songs for the series at Sound City, which is where Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks made their first album with Fleetwood Mac.
  13. With the release of their album “Aurora,” Daisy Jones and the Six have become the first fictional band to top the iTunes charts. When the album came out, it went straight to number one.
  14. Daisy (Riley Keough) wears a white dress for the “Aurora” album photoshoot that was made just for the show. It looks like a dress Stevie Nicks wore.
  15. Riley Keough’s look as Daisy Jones was inspired by fan art of the book.
  16. All of the episode names are classic rock songs.
  17. Sam Claflin worked with a movement coach to get the look and stage presence of legendary frontmen and guitarists Lindsey Buckingham and Bruce Springsteen.
  18. In the first half of filming, the main characters in The Six Band and Daisy Jones had to change their clothes 1,500 times.
  19. The clothes that teenage Daisy wore were inspired by the clothes that 70s singer Linda Ronstadt wore on stage, like short shorts, halter tops, and cowboy boots.
  20. The music of Christine Mcvie, Suzi Quatro, and Chrissie Hynde influenced the clothes that keyboardist Karen Sirko wore. Karen’s outfits, like Mcvie’s, are more put together and tailored than Daisy’s, which Stevie Nicks inspires.
  21. The famous Los Angeles nightclub the Viper Room is hidden inside the seedy bar Filthy McNasty’s.
  22. The wardrobe head, Denise Wingate, used to tour with the 80s rock band The Bangles, so she was quick to tell the cast what it was like back then.
  23. Elvis Presley inspired Daisy’s clothes because the actress who plays her, Riley Keough, is Elvis’s granddaughter.
  24. Karen Sirko is a British singer and keyboardist who looks up to Christine Mcvie of the band Fleetwood Mac.
  25. Because of the covid pandemic, the project was postponed for 18 months.
  26. Sam Claflin and Suki Waterhouse have worked together in the past. They were both in the movie Love, Rosie (2014).
  27. Last to be cast was Sam Claflin as Billy.
