Chicago Fire Season 11 Episode 13 Recap
Hermann’s wife Cindy was sick in tonight’s episode of Chicago Fire. It’s cancer. She had surgery to get rid of the cancerous tumour, but they couldn’t get it all, so the doctors told her to try chemotherapy. They hoped that would help shrink the part of the tumour that was still there. But Cindy was being honest about how things were going. She thought she might die. She wanted to take care of her business. She was looking into their life insurance and keeping an eye on Hermann to make sure he was taking care of everything with the kids. Death wasn’t Cindy’s biggest worry. Who will care for her family while she is away?
Hermann wasn’t yet ready to think about that possibility. He was trying to stay hopeful. He was taking care of the things Cindy usually did, like helping with a school fundraiser. Hermann thought it would be easy for him to take Cindy’s place. He didn’t realise how much Cindy does until a long time after the fact. She raised money by building gift baskets and giving her time. Hermann wanted to be in charge of everything. On the other hand, his friends knew that if Hermann ran the school, it would go bankrupt.
Mouch, who was Hermann’s best friend, tried to help. He was willing to help. Hermann said no because he was sure he could do it on his own, even though everyone knows he couldn’t. Even with help, he barely managed to do it. He couldn’t do it alone because it would be bad, so Mouch tried to protect him. Mouch went to Chief Boden in the end. He told Boden to tell Hermann that he needed help. He said that Hermann wouldn’t be able to say no if the boss told him to, but Boden said he couldn’t do that.
Boden saw that Hermann was going through some changes. Hermann needs to ask for help from them. When Hermann tried to make a perfect basket on his own, he found out this was true. Gallo and Ritter saw it, and they were very honest about all the ways that basket was terrible. Hermann put in a broken nozzle and Captain America’s shirt, which said “squad” on it. That shirt hadn’t been washed by Cap. Hermann asked Cap for it right off his body, and Cap gave it to him without any questions.
