Cardi B And Megan Thee Stallion Grammys 2021

Cardi B is defending her explicit performance of “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion during Sunday’s Grammys, as she fires back at parents to stop expecting celebs to raise their children.

If you tuned into the 2021 Grammy Awards on Sunday night, or even if you didn’t, you probably still witnessed footage of Cardi B’s explicit medley performance of her singles “Up” and “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion.

The endless Internet memes produced by the performance were on fire but speaking of being ‘heated’, Cardi’s performance received major backlash for being overly explicit.

Conservative FOX News correspondent Candance Owens popped off over Cardi’s performance, which led to the two hash it out via Twitter, as well as The National Center on Sexual Exploitation, whose Senior Vice President Dawn Hawkins released a statement criticizing the performance and describing it as ‘hardcore pornography’.

She said QUOTE, “In a performance that could have been cut from a hardcore pornography film, CBS allowed a glamorization of stripping and prostitution to be broadcast in front of a national audience – a portion of which were children – for no other reason than for TV ratings.”

Candace also shared many thoughts on Cardi via an excessive Twitter rant as one tweet read, “You are a cancer cell to culture. Young black girls are having their minds poisoned by what you are trying to package and sell to them as ‘empowerment’. I’m one of the few that have the courage to tell you the truth. You should thank me.”

While Candace continued to air out her issues via FOX News, Cardi took the criticism in a positive light as added coverage and promotion of the performance, in a since-deleted tweet writing QUOTE, “Yaaaayyyyyyy WE MADE FOX NEWS GUYS!!! Wap wap wap,” adding, “Matter fact I’m just going to thank Candy (Owens). She put my performance on Fox News giving it more views that boosted the views on YouTube and are counting towards my streams and sales.”

Cardi also issued a PSA to fans that although the performance was on national television QUOTE, “REMEMBER GROWN PARENTS, ONLY YOU CAN MONITOR WHAT YOUR KIDS WATCH. NO1 ELSE.”

Cardi also took her responses to Instagram when a fan questioned her values as an artist and mother who is preaching women empowerment, asking, “But how is this she empowering women with her music but doesn’t let her daughter listen? Don’t you wanna empower your daughter also?”

Cardi responded by saying QUOTE, “I don’t make music for kids I make music for adults. Parents are responsible for what their children listen to or see… I’m a very sexual person but not around my child just like every other parent should be.”

She went on to explain that she never once said that “WAP” was made to empower women, adding QUOTE, “I’m just a freaky person and this is not the first sex song ever made. Stop expecting celebs to raise your kids.”

While many still found the performance to be deeply offensive, others ran to Cardi’s defense, like this user whom she retweeted, saying, “Bro when will these dumb*** conservatives realize that Cardi B ain’t a Backyardigans or the wiggles or some sh*t, she makes music for ADULTS. And it’s sometimes about SEX. If your kid is listening to it that’s on you, not her.”

Another person wrote, “I’m just saying…if Fox can air American Horror Story uncensored on tv then the Grammys can air an uncensored performance of ‘WAP’.”

I mean, have you SEEN American Horror Story…?

They kinda have a point…

Regardless, this topic has been up for debate since long before Cardi and Megan’s Grammy performance, but it seems the more you try and stop her, the more she’s just gonna keep coming out on top…

NO explicit pun intended.
