Beauty and the Beast Cast 2022: Angela Lansbury, a unique cinematic and stage talent, won the hearts of a whole new generation in 1991 as the nurturing teapot Mrs Potts in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

On Thursday night’s episode of Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration on ABC, Lansbury received a special honour for her unforgettable portrayal. In this live musical celebration, Shania Twain, who plays Mrs Potts, sang “Beauty and the Beast” to the accompaniment of original composer Alan Menken on piano.

At the song’s conclusion, a projection of Lansbury and the animated Mrs Potts, together with the years 1925 through 2022, emerged behind Twain. This past October, Lansbury passed away at the age of 96.

She had been one of the original three enchanted servants to serve the Beast, and now she was the only one left. David Ogden Stiers, who played Cogsworth, passed away in 2018, and Jerry Orbach, who voiced Lumiere, passed away in 2004.

Being so recently deceased, Lansbury’s legacy was prominently featured throughout the program. Especially relevant to Twain.

On Friday, disney+ subscribers can watch Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration.
