Warhol created more than one image of Monroe; this particular painting has been exhibited in museums around the world.
The famous image of Marilyn Monroe, the American actress and world icon of tragic destiny (1926-1962), belongs to the Thomas and Doris Ammann Foundation of Zurich, Switzerland, which will dedicate the money from the sale to health and education projects destined to improve the lives of minors in the world.
The brothers Thomas and Doris Ammann were the founders of the museum that bears the same name in 1977, one of the most influential and respected spaces in Europe and the world that treasures Impressionist, modernist, post-war and contemporary works.
