The synopses imply that the season’s characters are more interconnected than was previously assumed. It turns out that Sam and Patrick have a history together that includes the accidental death and burial of Billy on Fire Island.
Upon further investigation, Gino discovered that the bar patron he had questioned, Henry, was, in fact, a mob fixer who had been tasked with silencing our favorite reporter right before Gino saw Patrick and Sam get into their car and leave.
However, the actual plot surprise was that Whitely was working as Henry’s helper when the body was being dismembered.
The plan to have Gino help Henry take down his old protégé went awry when Patrick revealed that Henry’s former assistant was actually the serial killer he had been searching for all along.
