Amber Heard Johnny Depp Final Verdict: On Wednesday, a jury concluded that his ex-wife Amber Heard lied when she claimed that Johnny Depp had assaulted her throughout their relationship, leading to Johnny Depp’s victory in a defamation action against Heard.
Ex-wife Heard was sued by Depp for defamation after she penned an op-ed for The Washington Post describing herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”
In spite of the fact that Depp’s name was omitted from the story, he argues that the incident cost him valuable acting jobs.
The accusations made by Depp’s attorney concerning Heard’s abuse allegations prompted a countersuit by Heard against her ex-husband for defamation.
After deliberating, a jury determined that both ex-partners had engaged in defamation of each other.

Amber Heard Johnny Depp Final Verdict
The jury determined that Depp was entitled to $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, which they divided equally.
The jury imposed no punitive penalties, but it did award $2 million in compensatory damages to Heard.
Damages were sought by Depp for $50 million and Heard for $100 million, respectively. Due to Virginia’s maximum on punitive damages of $350,000, the court, in this case, had to cut the punitive damages award.
As the decision was read, Heard’s gaze remained fixed on the floor.
“The jury handed me my life back,” Depp stated after his release from jail. Depp was not present in court.
