Alicia Silverstone Super Bowl Commercial: For a Super Bowl LVII ad, Alicia Silverstone played the same character she did in the movie Clueless. For a TV commercial to promote the Rakuten service, the actor put on her yellow plaid outfit.

At the beginning of the ad, Silverstone, playing Cher Horowitz, says, “I used to be pretty clueless about shopping,” which is similar to a scene from the 1995 comedy movie Mr. Hall’s debate class. Cher even had Elisa Donovan, who played Cher’s enemy Amber in the Amy Heckerling movie, stand next to her to act out the scene.

In another scene from the movie, Silverstone helps Cher pick out clothes. There is also a scene on Rodeo Drive and a place in front of the Horowitzes’ Beverly Hills home where the famous white Jeep is. Cher’s driving doesn’t seem to have gotten any better, and things keep happening “out of nowhere.”

On Rakuten’s YouTube channel, a longer version of the ad was posted. You can watch it below. Cristian Siriano, the winner of Project Runway and a judge on the show, also makes a cameo in the ad.
